On Saturday as part of the exciting line up of races running at the esteemed Gold Coast Racecourse for the second Brisbane winter carnival meeting, a capacity field of three-year-olds will take to the track in the $125,000 Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m).
16 horses plus four emergencies have been paid up for the set weights sprint feature including last start winner of the $150,000 Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m), Latin News.
Trained by legendary mentor Bart Cummings, the son of Hussonet is one of a number of classy interstate raiders hoping to snare victory from the locals.
Latin News has been very impressive over his short career winning three and placing in two of his six career starts but has drawn wide for Saturday in the far outside barrier presenting him with his biggest challenge.
Another talented interstate runner is the Chris Waller-trained Stryker from Sydney. The Fastnet Rock colt ran a gallant fourth to Ortensia last start in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) and despite drawing out wide in the Guineas, is still a top chance with Jim Cassidy aboard.
Some of the best local hopes in the Gold Coast Guineas include Swiss Rose trained by Magic Millions winning mentor Gillian Heinrich, and the in-form Sequalo gelding Tierqualo.

Also run at the Gold Coast on Saturday is the highly anticipated $300,000 Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m).
The Gold Coast Guineas is first up running as race six followed directly after by race seven, the Hollindale Stakes.
