As the summer racing season in Queensland gets into full swing, the 2011 Magic Millions Carnival Race Day is set to run at the Gold Coast this Saturday January 15th featuring nine quality showdowns including the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).
A capacity field of 16 starters plus five emergencies make up the 2011 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas final field making this a great race to get in on the betting action.
Top Drop is the pronounced favourite in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas betting markets, the Gerald Ryan-trained Snitzel colt currently paying $4.40 to win through Luxbet drifting slightly from their opening quote of $4.20 after drawing wide with barrier 13.
Coming off a win over 1400m at Randwick on Boxing Day, Top Drop has been in excellent form this season also finishing an eye-catching second to Torio’s Quest in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO on December 5.
Second favourite in the markets is Intencion at $5.50 despite needing two of the final field to be scratched before gaining a start.
Just missing out on securing a spot in the Guineas due to insufficient prize money earned, Commands colt Intencion has drifted slightly from their original price of $5.
In an open field, there are four other runners at single-figure odds in the Magic Millions Guineas odds including equal $7.50 third favourites Torio’s Quest and Celtic Dancer drawn in barriers 21 and 1 respectively.
American Crew has seen strong support in from $10 to $9 at Luxbet, the Chris Waller-trained gelding one of the interstate runners that could possibly miss the race day at the Gold Coast due to transportation issues related to road closures and flooding.
A top chance to cause an upset is #13 Demanding Miss, a big market mover firming into $9 after opening at $11.
Drawn well in barrier four, the Barry Baldwin-trained filly Demanding Miss is a locally based Eagle Farm runner coming off a successful campaign in Sydney who also ran third to Military Rose in the 2010 Magic Millions 2YO Classic here last season.
Other double-figure roughies that are in good form to finish in the money and add to those exotic payouts include Gai Waterhouse’s More Than Ready colt Brightexpectations ($15) and local Danzero three-year-old Startsmeup ($10).
