Jockey Michael Rodd is confident that his mount, Change Of Honour, can salute in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Gold Coast racecourse this Saturday January 12, 2013.
Change Of Honour has won one of his two race starts and has earned more than $55,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.
The Charge Forward gelding won his last start in the $80,000 Sportingbet Plate at Caulfield on December 8, 2012, and will be out to do the same when he runs in the 2013 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Rodd feels that the fact Change Of Honour has spent the past month at the Gold Coast will work in his favour.
“I was very happy when (BC3 Thoroughbreds and syndicate manager) Simon Marshall said they were sending him straight up there after his last win,” Rodd said.
“They wanted to give him every opportunity to settle in and be educated in that way of going.
“It means he has had a few gallops on the course proper … from all reports he is getting around without any problems … ”
While Rodd sees Clevadude as one of his biggest rivals, he feels the decision to send his up to the Gold Coast only days before the race will give his horse the advantage.
“I heard Clevadude is doing everything right and is absolutely flying but I understand he is getting up there only a few days before the race and that would be something to go against him,” Rodd said.
“Everyone knows it’s a bit of a curse coming from Melbourne up to the Gold Coast and it’s definitely an advantage to be up there early.”
