Purrific has been scratched from the 2013 Magic Millions 2YO Classic, due to a lingering knee injury.
The two-year-old was initially expected to be withdrawn from the field earlier this week, however, a follow up scan had shown that she was free of any structural damage.
Trainer Gillian Heinrich gave no sign that Purrific would be scratched from the race when speaking to media yesterday.
“If you had seen her on Thursday or Friday (last week) you would have said no way (would she run in the Classic) but it has just come good so quick,” Heinrich said.
“When you see swelling like that you think it can’t go down that quick but miraculously it has and my guys did a remarkable job.
“We got John Crowley in from Sydney to scan and x-ray her late on Sunday and everything was clear, so we gave her a trot and canter around (yesterday) morning and she was 100 per cent.”
Despite the upbeat attitude, Purrific has now officially been scratched from the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
The scratching has made way for Architect to gain a run in the race, who had originally been the first emergency.
Purrific had placed in two of her three race starts and has earned more than $43,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.
The Dane Shadow filly places a disappointing eighth in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes last start and was looking to turn her form around in Saturday’s 2013 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
