2015 Magic Millions Guineas Favourite Firms Following Barrier Draw

January 6th, 2015

Hijack Hussy is one of four single figure hopefuls in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas betting at Ladbrokes.com.au following Tuesday’s barrier draw. The Tony Gollan-trained filly saw her favouritism firm to $3.60 after drawing barrier six with Timothy Bell to ride.

Finishing in the first three in seven of her nine career starts, Hijack Hussy last won the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington Racecourse on Melbourne Cup Day before just missing out on winning both the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) and Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) during December.

Gollan believes there are no excuses for the filly in Saturday’s $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast, considering she’s stepping back up to her ideal distance.

“She is really looking for the 1400m, the 1200m and the 1300m of her past two starts have just been a touch too short,” the trainer told TVN.

“And now drawing a good barrier, it just ticks another box, it means we should be able to be a little closer in the run and not charging around the entire field.”

The filly was tightened for room in the Vo Rogue Plate last time out and the harsh weather leading up to the race took its toll on the runner-up. While Gollan was disappointed to walk away without a win, he’ll gladly take the 2015 Magic Millions Guineas as a consolation.

“This has been the grand final all along, this is the race we have aimed her at so yes, it has been frustrating but I’ll be content with just winning this one,” Gollan said.

“The weather was quite harsh leading in to her last run and I think it took its toll on her at the Gold Coast last start.

“She went out to the water walker and just had a nice easy week away from the stables.

“She is a fit horse and was in a good frame of mind when she returned [on Monday morning].

“I was really happy with how she worked on Tuesday, she was bouncing around and all the signs are there to say she will run well on Saturday.”

First emergency She’s Miss Devine will step up to the plate after Peter Moody’s Herstory was scratched from the Magic Millions Guineas.
